The five slots
- Drinks reception (60 min): jazz trio or acoustic act
- Host (2–3 hours on stage): comedian, presenter or industry name
- Walk-on music: pianist, small band or DJ
- Mid-show interlude (10 min × 2): dance troupe, singer, spoken word
- After-party (2–3 hours): DJ + optional headline band
Host is the single biggest lever
A great host cuts a 3-hour ceremony to feel like 90 minutes. Budget £3,000–£25,000 for a specialist awards host — see our keynote speaker guide for the fee bands.
Walk-on music beats silence
A pianist playing 20 seconds of walk-on and walk-off music per winner keeps pace. Budget £500–£1,200. Avoid pre-recorded stings — they always sound cheap.
Mid-show interludes
Every 40 minutes, break the pattern for 5–10 minutes. Options: dance troupe, spoken-word performer, single-song singer. Costs £600–£3,500 per interlude.
