David Starkey CBE is known as a Historian, Author, Broadcaster and Political Commentator, with experience spanning media, storytelling, current affairs and culture. He specialises in the Tudor period and has written bestselling and award recognised biographies of the Tudor monarchs; guest-curated major historical exhibitions for their centenaries and presented important TV series on their lives. Culminating in Monarchy, these documentaries got record audiences on Channel 4; received international prizes and two BAFTA nominations, and, repeatedly re-shown in schools, shaped the historical understanding of generations of schoolchildren. David is also a prominent and forthright commentator on current affairs. He has made memorable appearances on Question Time and Newsnight; while his acerbic interventions as a panellist on BBC Radio 4’s The Moral Maze got him labelled as “the rudest man in Britain”.
