About
Simon Frederick is known as an Artist, Filmmaker and Cultural Storyteller, with experience spanning arts, storytelling, identity and culture. Simon Frederick is a British-Grenadian visual artist, filmmaker, and cultural visionary whose work redefines how Black identity is seen, celebrated, and remembered. Entirely self-taught, he moves fluidly between photography, cinema, installation art, and strategic cultural storytelling, weaving legacy, beauty, and purpose into every frame. His breakout portrait series, Black Is the New Black, became the largest body of contemporary African-Caribbean portraits ever acquired into the National Portrait Gallery’s permanent collection. They’ve Gotta Have Us became one of the first Black titles to appear on Netflix’s homepage.
